Mr. Zhang Zhigang and Trade Minister of Belarus Jointly Presided the 6th Sino-Belarus Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation
Minister of Commerce of PRC Bo Xilai met with visiting Trade Minister of Belarus and expressed that China hoped to further enhance economic and trade cooperation with Belarus and other CIS nations.
Bo Xilai said that China and Belarus kept friendly cooperation relationship, China quite agreed with the target of bilateral trade reaching US$500 million in coming several years put forward by Lukashenko, President of Belarus. The two sides would deepen cooperation in expanding bilateral trade and promoting cross investment and other aspects.
Lukashenko said that in recent years, the rapid and sustainable development of economies in both China and Belarus provided favorable conditions for bilateral trade and economic cooperation, meanwhile, Belarus hoped to further develop trade and economic relations with China and also wished to learn experience from China about reform of market economy and WTO entry.
6th Meeting of Sino-Belarus Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Beijing. Zhang Zhigang, vice minister of commerce and Trade Minister of Belarus jointly presided the meeting. China put forward 6 suggestions on pushing bilateral trade and economic cooperation to further develop at the meeting which were in the following:
Make use of advantages of each other to reinforce cooperation in energy sources, telecommunication, automobile manufacture and medicine etc.
Enhance financial cooperation and promote development of bilateral trade.
Welcome Belarus to take part in China's Western Development and Revitalizing Old Industrial Base and to encourage two parties to enhance regional cooperation.
Perfect commodities structure, push balanced development of bilateral trade.
Take advantages of current cooperation channel, go on broadening new cooperation areas.
Strengthen cooperation among governmental administrative departments, perfect service support system.
Belarus completely agreed with China on the suggestions and hoped that both sides would enhance cooperation on economy and technology, cooperation in science and technology, industrial fields and among regions, and upgrade cooperation level of bilateral trade.
After the meeting, the two sides signed Governmental Economic and Technological Cooperation Agreement between China and Belarus and other relative agreements.
